Products & Eyewear
If I don't need correction to read, can I still buy Aptica filtered eyewear?
Yes. Even if you don't need corrective eyewear, you can still benefit from Aptica filtered eyewear. Some of our models are available in Plano power (+0.00), specially designed to protect your eyes from blue light without any magnification.
What are the benefits of Aptica filtered eyewear?
On average, we spend six hours a day in front of screens, including smartphones, tablets, computers and televisions. The result is often eyestrain, general fatigue and headaches. Blue light emitted by screens is high in intensity and short in wavelength, sitting right next to UV light, which is known to damage living tissue. Aptica is the first company in the world to include blue-blocking lenses in all its eyewear, ensuring consistent protection for your eyes at all times.
What are reading glasses?
Reading glasses are glasses with magnifying lenses that help people with presbyopia, an eye condition commonly associated with ageing where the eye lens loses elasticity and its ability to focus on close objects.
What's the difference between ready reading glasses and prescription glasses?
Ready reading glasses are made with + diopter lenses that magnify close-up objects and are sold over the counter, without a prescription from an optometrist. Prescription glasses are made specifically to match an individual prescription and can combine + and – lenses.
Ready reading glasses are more affordable and practical, making them ideal for travel or for keeping in multiple rooms. They also let you explore different styles without a significant investment.
When should you buy ready reading glasses?
You should consider ready reading glasses when you need extra magnification for close-up reading, a condition called presbyopia that affects most people between the ages of 35 and 45.
Some common signs include:
• Frequent headaches when reading
• Holding books, magazines or your phone at arm's length to see clearly
• Eye fatigue when working on screens or reading for extended periods
• Needing brighter light to read comfortably
The best way to confirm is to visit your optometrist.
What is a flex hinge?
A flex hinge is a small spring integrated into the arms of our eyewear frames. It allows the frame to flex slightly beyond its standard opening, providing a more comfortable and secure fit for a wider range of face shapes.
What are bifocal sunglasses?
Our bifocal sunglasses combine two lens zones. The lower portion of the lens includes a reading magnification, while the upper part remains unmagnified and functions as a standard pair of sunglasses.
Can I replace my own lenses in Aptica frames?
Our frames are not designed for lens replacement, so we cannot guarantee a satisfactory result. If you would like to explore this option, we recommend consulting your optician for their professional advice.
Can I get glasses with different strengths in each lens?
Unfortunately, this is not possible with our ready-to-wear range. Our glasses are available in strengths from +0.00 to +3.50, with the same power in both lenses. For different strengths per lens, you would need custom prescription glasses from an optometrist.
How do I look after my glasses?
Your Aptica glasses are built to last. Each pair comes with a protective pouch for safe storage. To clean your eyewear, use the included polishing cloth and, occasionally, a mild soap or detergent.
